About Attorney General Office
The Texas Office of the Attorney General is led by Ken Paxton, the 51st Attorney General of Texas, who was sworn into office on January 5, 2015. As the state's chief legal officer, Attorney General Paxton oversees more than 4,000 employees across 38 divisions and 117 offices throughout Texas, including nearly 750 attorneys. The office handles over 30,000 cases annually, focusing on upholding Texas laws and the Constitution.
Key responsibilities include enforcing child support orders, protecting Texans from consumer fraud, and ensuring open government. The office also provides legal advice to state officials and represents the State of Texas in court. Major initiatives include combating human trafficking, addressing the opioid crisis, promoting election integrity, and ensuring cyber safety. The Attorney General's office has pursued significant legal actions against federal overreach, winning cases on issues such as immigration, environmental regulations, and religious freedom. It has also been involved in lawsuits against deceptive opioid marketing and the sale of illegal synthetic drugs. The office works to protect Texans and safeguard their freedoms.

The child support division really doesn't help. I have had issues since putting my two oldest children on child support. They let him escape custody by his girlfriend at the time saying me and my daughter was in a bad accident in San Antonio when we lived right across from the courthouse in Georgetown and the Jailhouse. I didn't find out until I went to court and he didn't come. Then there was several times I showed up for court and was told we would contact me when he shows up but instead they let him go. Now that he got a Mexican wife who was living with him. They decided to get child support for her. I'm black and they didn't care. Now she gets hundreds of dollars while my mom get a hundred and I get fifty sometimes twelve or less. Attorney General isn't fair to black mothers but to other races they are. My child's father escaped custody several times. my kids meant nothing to the attorney general because they didn't care. I would be talk down to by the attorney general when I would say lock him up because he wasn't paying. He would get away with not paying. Attorney general is a jO
