About Attorney General's Office

The Washington State Office of the Attorney General is the largest public law office in Washington, led by Attorney General Nick Brown. The office serves approximately 200 state agencies, boards, commissions, colleges, and universities, as well as the Governor and Legislature. With nearly 800 attorneys and offices in 13 cities across the state, its mission is to provide excellent, independent, and ethical legal services to the State of Washington and protect the rights of its people.

The Attorney General's Office represents the state in various courts, advises state officers on legal issues, and issues written opinions on constitutional or legal questions. Its duties include upholding the Consumer Protection Act, enforcing laws against anti-competitive business practices, representing the public interest in utility matters, and protecting the environment. The office also investigates and prosecutes persons accused of crimes when requested by the Governor or a county prosecutor. The office does not engage in the private practice of law and cannot represent individual citizens in court.

Helpful for the citizens of the state . They have helped me immensely with certain things that they can help. For landlord tenant issues not very helpful it's all set up for that landlord renters don't have any rights hardly at all when it comes to mold and the landlord being worthy of fixing the problem which is something I don't understand even the health department doesn't help these issues. We live in an unhealthy environment when our state health department doesn't even help our local county health department nobody you must die first I guess from black mold before anyone will step in and help.

Should have called before heading to the AG's office so please make an appointment. Absolutely my bad!! They have a reception which is excellently operated and even though I was unable to see someone the young man was outstanding even after my weeping which I am sure only made him feel bad. I am sorry but thank you for being so kind. People! If you are going to Seattle for anything parking is hideous but the building the AG is in has parking which was safe. Also remember you are downtown and stay aware of your surroundings.

Western Washington University unlawfully disclosed my student all mental health counseling records from all 6 years of college during the start of a criminal investigation for rape in the second degree. Then WWU violated my FERPA rights again and disclosed all 6 years of my student health center records. WWU has openly admitted to violating my privacy rights and has prevented me from knowing the details of what happened. This caused me to miss reporting deadlines so that these violations could be investigated. In the context of the rape case, Western Washington University handed my priveleged information to an attorney defending a man who is essentially a stranger and 8 years older than me, who preyed on me when I was 24. None of the records which were disclosed had anything to do with the date of the rape being investigated, these records should have been quashed instead of released. These issues are very concerning and won't be known about due to WWU blocking my attrmpts to defend myself privately. The stress from this has been horrific. I have repeatedly felt like my only chances of feeling any relief would be if I were dead. The attorney general office answers on behalf of WWU (unfortunately), so that is why a complaint about WWU is here. The damage from this is beyond the scope of this rape case. Every interaction with my own university will be extremely uncomfortable for the rest of my life. I'll always regret choosing to attend this university and giving them any money or support. This university absolutely wins the trophy for destroying my life. This was egregious and horrendous for a university to do to not just a student, but a rape victim. I don't know how many times WWU has violated my privacy without my awareness. And I no longer feel safe to report a single crime because WWU will ruin anything I try to do.

After filing a complaint involving a fraudulent business deal (White Glove Wireless, - Humberto Zepeta), they never followed up; nor did I receive a copy of the report I filed.
