About Colorado Legal Services
Colorado Legal Services is a statewide nonprofit legal aid program that provides free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income Coloradans and seniors. The organization was formed in 1999 through the consolidation of three existing legal services programs, though its origins trace back to the Legal Aid Society of Denver, founded in 1925. Today, Colorado Legal Services operates 13 offices across the state and serves thousands of Coloradans each year.
The firm focuses on enforcing and defending clients' legal rights to help meet basic human needs such as shelter, safety, food, health, and income. Services may include legal advice, brief services, or full representation, depending on client needs and available resources. The organization also offers in-person legal help at various courthouse eviction clinics.
Colorado Legal Services assists clients with a broad range of civil legal challenges, including:
- Housing matters, such as evictions and landlord/tenant issues.
- Family law, including divorce, custody, and protection orders.
- Economic justice issues like bankruptcy and garnishment.
- Public benefits concerns, including Social Security and Medicaid.
- Advocacy and representation for farm workers.
- Support for survivors of crime, including human trafficking.
- Tax controversy and identification document issues.
The firm is led by an executive director and deputy directors for advocacy and operations. It also employs social workers to provide holistic support to clients, particularly those who are older or in need of housing assistance.

Andrea has represented me in two custody cases. She listens and she doesn't just tell you what you want to hear. She really gets to know your case and is very knowledgeable. She is really good about communicating and getting everything in to the courts on time. I would 10 out of 10 recommend this company.

Horrible staff, I have now had contact of sorts twice with this office. I asked for help with a section 1983 complaint and was bold faced lied to and was told they don't handle criminal cases of any sort. I told her according to what i come to read of Colorado state law, a section 1983 is a civil matter. She again lied and told me it was a criminal case and that her funders wouldn't let her take these types of cases. Like the others quick to judge people as criminals but let brutality occur and not holding it accountable, you're just as bad as the people doing it.

Never received a return call. Spent over thirty minutes on hold. I am sure that they help lots of folks in need. I was just not one me of them.

Very frustrating! Called to get advice on a protection order and a D&N case. The first person I talked to was very nice and took my application over the phone. She called back and said I was approved and I would also be able to talk to a Daniella regarding the D&N case. We had the phone interview and got Daniella on. It was absolutely awful! She constantly interrupted me and was fairly condescending! She basicly told me she couldn't go against CPS and I could hire a private attorney. If I could afford to hire a private attorney to assist with the case of my Grandson I wouldn't have contacted you! We're talking about the future of a baby! Very rude and unprofessional.
