About Community Legal Aid Society
Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. (CLASI) is Delaware's oldest and largest civil legal aid organization, established in 1946. It is a statewide nonprofit committed to achieving equal justice through civil legal advocacy. CLASI provides free legal services to eligible Delaware residents, including individuals with low incomes, people with disabilities, those aged 60 and older, and victims of violence and crime.
The organization assists clients with a range of civil legal issues, focusing on practice areas such as housing, domestic violence, immigration, public benefits, family law, disability law, and elder law. CLASI operates through offices located in Wilmington, Dover, and Georgetown, serving individuals and families across Delaware.
CLASI's work encompasses both individual case representation and broader impact advocacy. Through individual assistance, the firm helps clients secure shelter, government benefits, educational and medical services, protection orders, and legal immigration status. Its impact advocacy efforts involve litigation, community education, and legislative and policy advocacy to address systemic issues and promote broader change. CLASI does not handle criminal or personal injury cases.

Never answer phones, I've been calling for over a year with the same case to try and get representation and the same excuse was that they had too many cases to deal with. And that's been their answer all the times that I've called in just a year span.

The Waitresses are very friendly. They greet you as soon as you walk in, and bring you your food and drink before you even know it. They have all the games on so you can either watch your favorite team or watch all the teams. They also have a pool table so you can play pool if you would like. You can't beat the atmosphere it is so wonderful I've been going there for two years now. It's a great place to go where everybody knows everybody it reminds me of the TV show Cheers. I give this place my highest recommendation.

I can't speak highly enough for Community Legal Aid Society. Starting with Sandy, she was so friendly and professional, when I called I was so upset and she made me feel so much better. Kate was an awesome lawyer, I'm so happy and thankful she represented me. Everything went so smoothly and was so much better than I thought. I really want to thank them so much for helping me with a tough situation. I appreciate them so much!
