U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was established in 2003 through a merger of the investigative and interior enforcement elements of the former U.S. Customs Service and the Immigration and Naturalization Service. The agency operates with over 20,000 law enforcement and support personnel across more than 400 offices in the United States and internationally.

ICE's mission is primarily advanced through three operational directorates: Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), and the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA).

HSI is the principal investigative component, responsible for investigating, disrupting, and dismantling transnational criminal organizations and terrorist networks. Its scope includes federal criminal investigations into areas such as narcotics smuggling, child exploitation, human smuggling and trafficking, money laundering, cybercrime, intellectual property theft, and human rights violations.

ERO upholds U.S. immigration law, managing all aspects of the immigration enforcement process, including identification, arrest, detention, and the removal of individuals who violate immigration laws or pose public safety threats.

OPLA serves as the exclusive representative of the Department of Homeland Security in immigration removal proceedings and provides legal services to ICE programs and offices on matters including customs, criminal, and immigration law enforcement authorities, administrative law, and Federal Tort Claims Act issues.

Totally disappointed. I thought it was a nice service that would keep me safe, but ended up being a concentration camp. Not at all what I wanted and when me and tons of others said hey this isn't what we wanted, they just said they didn't care and turns out there's totally no manager to call. They dont report to anyone.
