About Licking Prosecuting Attorney

The Licking County Prosecuting Attorney's Office operates through three primary divisions: Adult Felony, Juvenile, and Civil. The Adult Felony Division is responsible for prosecuting adults charged with felonies under Ohio State statutes, including crimes such as robbery, burglary, felonious assault, domestic violence, drug offenses, forgery, fraud, white collar crimes, arson, child physical and sexual abuse, sexual assault, and homicides. This division also handles cases where juveniles are prosecuted as adults. Misdemeanor offenses for adults are typically prosecuted by municipal attorneys or the Newark City Law Director's Office.

The Juvenile Division prosecutes juvenile offenders for all types of crimes, whether felonies or misdemeanors, and regardless of whether they violate state statutes or municipal ordinances. Additionally, this division represents the State in cases requiring protective custody for children due to parental neglect, abuse, or inability to provide for their needs.

The Civil Division serves as legal counsel for most County office-holders and departments, as well as the twenty-five Township governments and several school districts in Licking County. This division provides advice on various legal issues, including open meetings, public records, annexations, zoning, competitive bidding, contracts, and public employment. The office also features a Victim Witness Division, dedicated to assisting crime victims and witnesses throughout the criminal justice process. Jenny Wells holds the position of Licking County Prosecutor.

I guess as a parent you can carry a loaded gun onto a school campus and this prosecutor will not do anything about it besides say they added confusion to the situation. Possibly prosecuting said parent would stop incidents such as that. The parent, no matter what was happening had no right to carry a loaded gun onto school grounds. Another thing we can thank Mike Dewine for. Gun danger.
