N H Association of Criminal Defense

The New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NHACDL) is a voluntary, professional association for criminal defense attorneys across New Hampshire. Established in 1988, it stands as the state's largest and sole independent organization dedicated exclusively to criminal defense. NHACDL unites approximately 250 attorneys, encompassing both public defenders and private practitioners engaged in criminal defense work throughout New Hampshire's state and federal courts.

As an affiliate of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, NHACDL's mission is to ensure effective legal representation in criminal cases, safeguard constitutional rights, and promote fair and transparent justice systems. The association supports its members through various initiatives, including statewide collaboration, elite legal training, and a comprehensive digital resource platform featuring a motions bank and expert witness directories. NHACDL maintains legislative vigilance in Concord, actively shaping laws, and provides appellate advocacy as amicus curiae in cases of fundamental importance. It also offers a specialized force for member protection and a mentorship program for new and seasoned practitioners.
