NJCVLC - New Jersey Crime Victims' Law Center

The New Jersey Crime Victims' Law Center (NJCVLC) was founded in 1992 by Ann and Richard Pompelio, who are victim-survivors themselves. The organization provides pro bono legal assistance to victims of violent crime across all 21 counties of New Jersey. Its mission is to offer legal enforcement and advocacy for the state and federal rights of victims within the criminal justice system.

NJCVLC delivers holistic legal representation to victims of violent crime in both criminal and civil courts. The center also engages in Amicus Curiae legal advocacy in cases where victims' statutory and constitutional rights are not being upheld, appearing in courts up to the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Since its establishment, NJCVLC has served over 30,000 victims at no charge, including survivors of homicide, sexual assault, child and elder abuse, aggravated assault, domestic violence, stalking, teen dating violence, and human trafficking.

Recognized as the first and oldest crime victim pro bono legal rights enforcement program in the United States, NJCVLC has served as a model for similar clinics nationwide and is part of a national victims' rights network.
