Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program

The Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program (OLAP) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1991. Dedicated to serving Ohio's judges, attorneys, and law students, OLAP provides confidential assistance for substance use disorders and mental health issues. The program helps individuals obtain treatment and offers support across the state of Ohio.

OLAP's services include confidential advice on individual problems, assistance with arranging and implementing formal interventions, and guidance in choosing between outpatient, inpatient, and other treatment programs. They also offer monitoring and aftercare services. The organization conducts confidential substance abuse and mental health assessments to diagnose issues and provide tailored recommendations, which may include drug/alcohol treatment, medical evaluations, psychiatric evaluations, or psychological therapy.

OLAP maintains strict confidentiality, operating independently from the Ohio Supreme Court's Office of Disciplinary Counsel and local grievance committees. The program assists clients with a range of concerns, such as depression, anxiety, burnout, gambling disorders, and various substance use disorders. They also offer support for those concerned about a colleague and provide CLE presentations on substance abuse and mental health issues within the legal profession.
