About South Royalton Legal Clinic

The South Royalton Legal Clinic (SRLC) was established in 1979 as part of the Vermont Law and Graduate School. Operating under state and federal student practice rules, the clinic provides hands-on legal experience for approximately 40 student clinicians and work-study students. Guided by experienced staff attorneys, these students represent clients in over 150 court, administrative, and other appearances each year.

The SRLC serves low-income Vermonters, offering an estimated $1.5 million in free legal services annually to those otherwise unable to afford counsel. Student clinicians develop cases from start to finish, including client interviews, research, negotiations, drafting legal documents, and presenting at trial or hearing. The clinic has been involved in Vermont Supreme Court and U.S. District Court cases that have set precedents.

The clinic focuses on civil legal matters, explicitly stating it does not represent criminal cases. Its practice areas include Family Law, Veterans Law, Bankruptcy, SSI/SSDI appeals, Landlord/tenant issues, Civil rights and civil liberties, Consumer protection, and Immigration. The SRLC collaborates with organizations such as Vermont Legal Aid and the Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Assault. Potential clients undergo an intake process, and representation is not guaranteed.

Due to a conflict of interest they cannot help me nor answer simple questions to steer me in a direction that I have not already exhausted all resources of in this fight since 2015 apparently now we have a conflict of interest but didn't when they called me regarding my current status in the court so getting sick and tired of Vermont and their false hope. My ex has kidnapped my son said he doesn't care about the visitation rights left state lines and I don't know what I'm going to see my son again so now what do I do.....

IT WOULD BE NICE FOR SOMEONE TO CONTACT ME BACK REGARDING MY HUSBANDS UPGRADE!!!! We have the OLDEST case load in the entire clinic and you can't even call me back or pick up the phone. Here we are 3 years later, 10 students and we have NOTHING to show for it. Upset is a complete understatement. Edit: 1-2 months later and have barely made any progress. Rarely will Donald ever get back to me, no return phone calls or emails and been told numerous times "the final draft is almost done. Been at this since 2020 and no light at the end of the tunnel. I will be contacting the school and school board. Why is this clinic even open honestly. I've lost ALL HOPE in Donald (head attorney), his students and faculty.
