State Attorney

The South Dakota State's Attorneys Association (SDSAA) serves as a representative body for State's Attorneys and local prosecutors throughout South Dakota. Each county State's Attorney is invited to become a member of the association. Associate membership is also available to a range of legal professionals, including Deputy State's Attorneys, the Attorney General and Assistant Attorneys General, the United States Attorney, Assistant United States Attorneys, Tribal Prosecutors, and other prosecutors operating within South Dakota.

A core mission of the SDSAA is to provide ongoing continued education and training specifically tailored for South Dakota prosecutors. Furthermore, the association plays a role in unifying the collective voice of prosecutors on significant legal policy discussions at local, state, and national levels. The SDSAA maintains an administrative office located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The association's leadership structure includes a President, Vice-President, Executive Director, a Past President & Chair, and several Circuit Directors who oversee different regions. For specific inquiries concerning legal charges, court dates, plea agreements, or any other civil or criminal matters, individuals are directed to contact the appropriate local State's Attorney's office in the county where the case is filed, or the office of the South Dakota Attorney General, as applicable.
