U.S. Attorney's Office

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of North Dakota represents the federal government in nearly all litigation within the state. This includes prosecuting violations of federal law, handling civil lawsuits against the government, and pursuing actions to collect judgments and restitution on behalf of victims and taxpayers. The office serves the entire state of North Dakota, which spans over 70,665 square miles and has a population of approximately 760,077 residents.

The District maintains two staffed offices and two unstaffed branch offices. Its main headquarters is located in Fargo, which houses 10 Assistant United States Attorneys and 24 support staff personnel. A staffed branch office is situated in Bismarck, employing 8 Assistant United States Attorneys and 10 support staff. Unstaffed branch offices in Grand Forks and Minot regularly host hearings and trials.

The office's staff of 52 employees works across various areas, including civil law, criminal law, financial litigation, anti-terrorism, law enforcement coordination, victim-witness support, and administration. The District of North Dakota also includes four Indian reservations.
