About Vermont Legal Aid

Vermont Legal Aid is a non-profit 501(c)(3) law firm established in 1968. The firm provides free civil legal services to eligible Vermonters, focusing on low-income residents and vulnerable populations, including individuals living in poverty, those with disabilities, and seniors over age 60. They also assist anyone experiencing housing discrimination, challenges related to health care, or needing relief from abuse.

The firm addresses civil legal problems such as eviction, foreclosure, health care, discrimination, disability services, civil rights, public benefits, bankruptcy, and issues with landlords or creditors. While they do not handle criminal matters, traffic cases, or criminal defense, they represent victims of crime or abuse in criminal and Relief from Abuse cases.

With a staff of 73 organized into 11 legal projects, Vermont Legal Aid advocates for fairer rules and laws to enhance justice within the civil legal system. They work to correct systemic problems affecting vulnerable Vermonters and address the underlying causes of poverty, discrimination, and inequality. The firm operates statewide from four offices in Burlington, Montpelier, Rutland, and Springfield, coordinating legal help through VTLawHelp.org in partnership with Legal Services Vermont.

Never called me but had no problem taking my money. I went through the Vermont 211 which is nothing but a scam.

Able to offer free assistance not always the easiest for help. Typically calls back within 3 days but most often times just advises you to call someone else. Basically delegating to someone else.

You should really make a better and easier way for Door Dashers to pick up delivery orders for your customers. They should be able to go to the side door marked just for (DOOR DASH PICK UP ORDERS ONLY) besides having them go through the drive through to wait in the order line when the order is already done and waiting!!!!!

Reach out many times... never got an awner from them.. i had a case that was dismissed with all charges 4 years later. I received a letter stating. They sealed my record for these charges that never occurred and was falsely charged in the first place. As plaintiff stated, the courts and the cops made a mistake... Four years you later as an army vet and full time father 5 years.. i kept reaching out to the legal aid to find out how they could charge me. Without even know, notifying me as well as no court hearing, no hearing, no statement from me. I was never asked a single question. When the cops arrested me, they did not read me.My rights they did not tell me what I was arrested for and they kept repeating you'll find out when we get to the station... So rutlandcore has illegally charged me, and i've reached out over and over and over and over to legal aid in burlington, as well as rutland with an automated message talking about an expungement, this is not even close to what I asked about.. They continue to send these automated messages about expungement. Never get an answer, never get a talk to anybody. I've dealt with them before. They didn't help obviously me.And my son before without heat.. And legal aid did nothing, then they really do nothing
