  Do not hire him!He will not make a effort to fight for your case,he will not advocate for you,I caught him in lies,late to court,I seen him giggling and laughing with the prosecutor(but yet says he couldn't get a better plea),and very unprofessional!He shows up to court late and looking unprofessional.He talked to me very rudely and unprofessional,for example he stated,"I can't twist the prosecutor's arm to make her change her mind" When the prosecutor came up with her plea agreement ,all he told us was "she's not budging". He had no rebuttal , no course of plan to fight for a better plea, just "she's not budging." But yet, you see him in the court room, talking super friendly and casually with her and the other prosecutors,but yet you can't get any better plea…yeah ok,that was a big slap in the face!He was always SO annoyed and burdened when I asked him what he can do to help my son get a better plea,with no previous record .Working with him was one of the worst experiences I've ever had, working with someone "professional."Maybe if you're not of color you may be fine,maybe and maybe not. ⚠️I am kindly warning you all do NOT set yourself up for failure!I do not want anyone or their family to not get the services they are paying for, especially when it comes to serious court decisions,that could affect the rest of your life!!!Peace, love,and blessings to all!💕💕 P.S.All people of color definitely better not hire! Matter fact please just keep your self out the court system!The court system is designed to imprison people of color and hand out felonies, like free covid shots! Have control of your lives and stay out the court system!!Ase!!!

  I used his services almost 2 years ago. His retainer fee was a bit high. Although, he kept me up to date with mailing paperwork his initial feedback was to take a plea. The problem with that was a public defender could've offered the same. Of course, I said no and he immediately offered something better after I said take it to trial-I took that 2nd offer. Once in court, he was late-everything ran smoothly after but I noticed that he represented a different client for the same charges and offered that client the same original plea that he offered me...problem is that client took it. Once my case was closed I didn't know that I'd be getting 5 points on my license, my lawyer never discussed that with me. It seemed as if he just took the cash and didn't fight for his clients.Needless to say, be careful when choosing a lawyer to represent you...they seem to all work together. I wouldn't use his services again.

  BRILLIANT JOB TURNING A BAD SITUATION INTO A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE This past year and a half has been the first time that I have been in a situation that not only had the potential to change my life in a seriously negative way but was also above and beyond what I felt confident in how much I could effect the outcome. Just like I have never had any reason to list what aspects of a heart surgeon would make me comfortable handing my life over to for a procedure, I had completely taken for granted the effect that a lawyer could have on my quality of life. Thankfully a colleague recommended John Garey of Dover, DE; not only does he hold John and his staff in the highest professional regards but he adamantly stressed the value of John's ability to simplify the process for him and help him understand the road forward. I walked into Mr. Garey's handing overwhelmed and anxious about the gravity of my situation and left feeling confident that I was hiring someone who understood how important this was to me and would provide a defense that reflected his commitment to continuing his run as one of Delaware's too few defense attorneys . John and his group helped stoke my confidence as they broke down the case for me, explained the possible outcomes and told me that they have years of experience in similar matters. Before I walked in that day, I did not think that anyone could make me feel confident handing over the control of a situation that could have tuned out so badly for me but I realized early on that this group gave me the best chance I had. I followed exactly the advice that John gave me on how to proceed from that day forward and by the time that I was due in court I felt as assured as I could have been about my case. John delivered on his promise by arguing my case effectively and never losing site of the final outcome we agreed to as best case.   I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and respect for John R. Garey, a man who not only stood by my side during one of my most challenging seasons of my life but did so with deep concern for me being NOT GUILTY. I believe God put him in my life because I had another attorney helping me at the start of my proceedings in my criminal case. The attorney I had come to me after about 7 months stating that it was out of his league, so he referred, John Garey, which you don't hear too many attorneys give up the case and refund money because he couldn't help me. My attorney at the time stated I can look up John Garey online, so I did. What I saw online, I knew God was involved because it stated John Garey worked with the DOJ as a prosecutor for 15 years then started his own practice to go defend people the DOJ is going after. I said thank you God! That spoke to me, that God sent him to me. John Garey listened to my case without judgement and gave me wise counsel. Throughout my trial, he was very knowledgeable about the legal aspects of the case. He was committed to the truth and justice, even when the odds were stacked against us. He fought for my innocence and to get me the best outcome which he did. I got a Hung Jury verdict and proceeding that the DOJ and Attorney General office gave me a nolle prosequi and dropped all the charges. Thank God! John is currently getting all my charges expunged from my record. I believe God placed him in my life during this battle through his dedication and many prayers by friends, family and community. I have my life back and witnessed first-hand how the Lord uses His servants to bring truth to light. If you are looking for an attorney who will fight for you with both legal wisdom and God's conviction, I would highly recommend John Garey.
