I am so grateful for Attorney Brandt and Attorney VanBlaricum for their hard efforts in having a retailatory illegal eviction reversed. While staying at an infamous Detroit slum lord's property, we learned the person did not own the property and it had several violations from the city. Once the city notified us that the property was not to be occupied, the fake landlord asked us to leave the property. Almost a month after we left the property, the individual fraudulently filed a retailatory eviction with 36th district court abusing the courts resources by falsifying documents to say that we were evicted. My daughter was actually having surgery the morning of our hearing, and I unfortunately could not attend. The attorneys represented me in my absence, and I am so thankful! The actions of this slumlord caused a great hardship on my family, and I am so grateful for the efforts of Lakeshore Legal Aid for working with us in communicating what actions were done against us, and how they possibly could reverse those actions. With Lakeshore Legal Aid getting the judgement reversed, my family no longer has any evictions or judgements on our record. God bless the hard working team of Lakeshore Legal Aid!

Despite qualifying the attorney wouldn't really represent me. He did file a stay for me because my landlord wasn't accepting the rent payments. Moving forward he had another stipulated agreement that the landlord didn't abide by and the attorney basically told me oh well. During the drawn out process more issues arise and I'm told just to pack my things. I asked for another stay to be filed and they refused. Remind you I do qualify for representation but they hardly even respond to emails and won't help me. I haven't even received a copy of a signed order and I guess that's typical as well and it's just fine with legal aid. Advocating for yourself is about as useful as the hopeless advice given by the ones who are supposed to represent you.

This company is a money grab. They are in existence to make money from state cases. Please do not deal with anyone from this company. Please beware of B. Richard. Just hang up.

My experience with Lakeshore was frustrating. Communication was difficult, and I did not receive clear answers in a timely manner. I was eventually told they could not help me because of a conflict of interest, even though I was told the other person was willing to waive it. I understand the firm has the right to decide whether a conflict can be waived, but I believe they should have explained the issue sooner and provided better guidance or a referral. I did not feel supported or well served.
