This office is a fraudulent. I don't beieve they ever intend to reprimand any attorney. This is all for show. It's disgusting that attorney's get away with unethical behavior everyday and they will not do anything about it. I filed a claim against an attorney and they said what she was doing was not unethical it was a civil matter. It is actually both. The ethics director Johanna Barba Jones declined moving forward with an investigation even though I provided all the relevant facts. They don't want to see attorney's loose their license so they deny the grievance. Shame on our justice system and this ridiculous department.

The Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE) has completely failed in its duty to uphold professional accountability within the legal system. Despite providing clear, documented evidence of attorney misconduct, OAE refuses to investigate or hold attorneys accountable, instead dismissing valid grievances under the guise of "civil matters" or procedural excuses. In my experience, this office has demonstrated a consistent pattern of disregard for ethical violations, enabling attorneys to engage in fraudulent actions without consequence. Even when overwhelming proof of fraud, misrepresentation, and conflicts of interest is presented, OAE declines to act, effectively shielding corrupt attorneys from scrutiny. This office does not function as an impartial regulatory body but rather as a gatekeeper protecting legal professionals at the expense of the public. Their failure to act has caused irreparable harm to litigants who seek justice but are instead met with bureaucratic stonewalling and selective enforcement. If you are expecting fairness, accountability, and ethical oversight, do not count on the OAE. Their inaction and lack of transparency undermine public trust in the legal system. This agency is long overdue for a full external audit and reform. Shameful and unacceptable.

This organization is just for show. They give the illusion they're enforcing attorney ethics, but outside of a few issues they don't do anything. In the event they are able to hold an attorney accountable, the discipline usually amounts to a corrective action rather than anything serious. A truly disappointing organization.
