Marc R. Kivitz has been in practice for over 30 years, during which he has represented numerous small businesses and families facing financial challenges, including defending lawsuits and filing bankruptcy cases. His goal is to help clients achieve a fresh start. Mr. Kivitz graduated from The University of Maryland Honor program in 1976 with honors and as a Phi Beta Kappa, receiving the HC Byrd Citizenship Prize. He earned his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1979, where he was awarded the Moot Court Appellate Advocacy Award and the William Cunningham Exceptional Achievement Award.

Mr. Kivitz served as the first law clerk to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland and was a United States Bankruptcy Trustee from 1980 to 1996, administering bankruptcy cases in Baltimore. He is a member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Maryland State Bar Association, and the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland. He has also served on the Maryland State Bar Association's Subcommittee for the 25th Anniversary of the Bankruptcy Code and frequently lectures on bankruptcy topics.
