About Neighborhood Legal Services
Neighborhood Legal Services (NLS) is a non-profit, public interest law firm established in 1966. The firm provides civil legal assistance to low-income and vulnerable residents across Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence Counties in Pennsylvania. NLS aims to meet the civil legal needs of its community through effective legal representation and education, focusing on helping clients improve their self-sufficiency.
The firm offers various levels of service, including direct representation, legal advice, and referrals to available resources. NLS addresses fundamental legal problems such as housing insecurity, consumer debt, public benefits denials, social security disability issues, employment disputes, and family matters including custody and domestic violence. The firm also provides specialized services for elder individuals and veterans.
Neighborhood Legal Services does not handle criminal matters. The organization actively recruits volunteer attorneys and paralegals to support its mission and extend its reach. NLS has initiated several special service programs, including the Medical-Legal Collaborative, Women's Impact Network, Project HEALS, and dedicated services for victims of crime, veterans, and the elderly.

Going to be honest. Had court today and my lawyer didn't even speak to me. Was signed in and sat there for an hour and a half. Was dismissed and not even notified about it. Now back to square one with the problem at hand. The only reason I knew about my case was because my information was being discussed with the other members of the court. Thats when I spoke up that's when I was informed about my case. Will be more reluctant to seek help as a result.

I had Donna Allen Rosemond, and she did not really do much in way of making sure my voice was heard in my custody case. She told me she knew more than I did any time I didn't agree with her, insisted I had no case any time I wanted to push something for the betterment of my child's well being, constantly talked over me and ignored what I had to say, and never even brought up in court how my child's father has mentally and emotionally negatively impacted our son. Then when I tried to finalize things with my case with her (set up a mediation to finalize contingency items) she no longer picked up the phone or answered my emails. I ran into issues recently and I tried to contact her to get some advice, and still no response. I do not recommend working with her if you can avoid it.

Never able to reach a person, even when they provide their "direct" line. Machine says intake is closed yet they are supposed to be open. (2/14/19 @ 11:20pm). Only open five hours a day due to their taking a full hour lunch - worse than banking hours. They do not stagger lunch breaks. They would be a much better service if you could reach a human.

They 'helped' me get my pfa. Pfa was violated, police were notified and didn't do anything. I called this place to ask what I'm supposed to do. I literally have no clue what I'm doing. They have never called me back. And I spoke to someone there and was told I'd get a call back later that day. That was almost 2 weeks ago. Literally what is the point in a pfa.
