The Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys (OACTA) is an organization established in 1966. Founded as the Ohio Defense Association by attorneys Frank "Bud" Hurd and Rudy Janata, OACTA serves as a resource for legal professionals in Ohio. The association comprises attorneys, corporate executives, and managers who primarily focus on the defense of civil lawsuits and the management of claims against individuals, corporations, and governmental entities.

OACTA's mission is to promote fairness, excellence, and integrity within the civil justice system. It achieves this by offering resources and educational opportunities to its members, who are dedicated to defending individuals and businesses in civil actions. The organization provides continuing legal education (CLE) seminars, networking events, and publications such as "The Update" and the "OACTA Quarterly Review." OACTA also engages in amicus curiae programs on significant legal issues and has historically played a role in tort reform initiatives. Member benefits include access to an Expert Witness Database and a Member Request Network. The association maintains an alliance with the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and established The OACTA Foundation in 2015.
