Professional Experience

Laura Abrams has represented public entities in Ohio since 1993. Her roles include Law Director for Springfield Township, General Counsel for The Ohio Plan, Inc., and Mayor's Court Magistrate for the Village of Glendale. She also provides training on employment law and Ohio public entity issues. Ms. Abrams was named an Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star in "Cities & Municipalities" in 2005.

Appellate Practice

Ms. Abrams has argued cases before the Ohio Supreme Court and presented matters to the United States Supreme Court. Her appellate experience extends to the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth, and Ninth Circuits, and the First, Second, and Twelfth District Courts of Appeals in Ohio.

Background and Admissions

Ms. Abrams is a cum laude graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she was an editor of the Law Review. She clerked for the Court of Appeals of Ohio, Second Appellate District, and later led the governmental and administrative law practice at a nationally recognized firm before founding The Abrams Law Firm.

She is admitted to practice in all courts and agencies in the State of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth, and Ninth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.

Professional and Community Involvement

Ms. Abrams is an active member of the legal community, with involvement including:

• Membership in the Ohio bar and the Cincinnati Bar Association.
• Serving on the Cincinnati Bar Association's Grievance Committee since 1998, including a term as Chair.
• Volunteering as a referee for the Hamilton County Juvenile Court Unofficial Referee Program since 1996.
• Developing the Cincinnati Public Schools Truancy Mediation Program in 2006.
• Serving as Chair of the Batavia Township Board of Zoning Appeals, where she has been a member since 2001.
