The United States Trustee Program (USTP) is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice, established in 1978 to promote the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system. Operating nationally, the USTP oversees bankruptcy case administration, supervises private trustees, and combats fraud and abuse through civil and criminal enforcement. It also facilitates access to justice for all participants in the bankruptcy process.
